TitleFind It & Fix It: Removing Bias in Your Content, Experiences, and Messaging

Not sure how to represent different ways of being human into your work? Tired of style and brand guides that don’t reflect your audience? Overwhelmed, frustrated or feel like you’re “doing it wrong”?

We've all encountered communications or content that left us feeling a little...well, not great. Materials that contain stereotypes, unintended bias, or other barriers that shut people out of the message. These cringeworthy moments can have a lasting impact - organizations can lose talent, revenue, and credibility.

Join us online to learn how patterns, images, or word choice can detract from your intended message.

    We'll cover:

    • Bias, stereotypes, inequities, stigma, absences, ableism, and similar issues
    • Patterns, positioning, and proportion that create a negative association
    • Word choice and expressions that are exclusionary, offensive, or have negative origins
    • Design elements that make it difficult for humans to process information

This session takes you through three key areas:

    • Subtle (and not so subtle) ways that bias shows up in content
    • Where these issues can "hide" in materials, experiences, and communications
    • Practical tips and actions you can start (or stop) doing today

    About Our Presenter

Dr. Jen O'Ryan is an Organizational Consultant specializing in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). She works with business leaders to remove bias, stigma stereotypes, inequities, appropriation, and similar issues from their messaging, content, and interactions.

Make Your Message Synonymous with Your Name with Michelle Mazur, Ph.D.

Are you sick of being overlooked for your expertise? Are you relying on referrals for clients? Do your social media posts get almost no engagement? Are your competitors closing your prospects too often?

Inconsistent, generic messaging is usually the culprit. The most successful thought leaders have a short, memorable, sticky message that sums up their mission -- think Brene Brown's “Dare to Lead,” or Simon Sinek's “start with why.”

Michelle created her "3 Word Rebellion" framework to help thought leaders determine a one-of-a-kind message that's easy for audiences to remember and spread to their friends, so you can become well-known in your niche.

    In this presentation, you'll discover:

    • The 3 jobs your message does for your business
    • Two questions to ask yourself to find your 3 Word Rebellion, so that your name becomes synonymous with your message
    • How your one-of-a-kind message can eliminate your competition and put you in a category of one
    • Why almost no one can get their messaging right on their own (even Michelle!)

DeadlineRegistration closes end of day on Tuesday, October 22nd.

Ticket price includes a small stipend for our speaker.

TitleThe Art of Effective Delegation: How to Trust Others and Hold Them Accountable

Have you gone through multiple people trying to get them to fill a role or complete a project and not been happy with the outcome? Do you struggle with letting other people take over a project or task because you think it would be easier to just do it yourselfDo you have trouble letting go of a project or task because you don’t think someone else can do it as well as you can?

Small business owners and solopreneurs need to know how to delegate and have their intentions successfully fulfilled by others.

By attending this workshop, you will learn:

    • Delegation 101: Effective delegation is not just about the “how” (the practical steps) but about who you need to become as a delegator—building trust, communication, and the courage to empower others.
    • Become empowered and enabled to give critical feedback to those working for you (to keep projects going in the right direction), and the ability to successfully delegate projects and tasks that you would love to get off your full plate.
    • Gain a new mindset around delegation which will result in a higher return on your investment of time and better outcomes for you and your businesses.
