WBO Excellence
The Nellie Cashman Woman Business Owner of the Year award recognizes and honors a woman business owner who has enhanced the status of women entrepreneurs through her vision, perseverance and fearless, relentless leadership in business and the community.
The WBO Excellence Award (formerly the WBO Outstanding Member of the Year) recognizes and honors a WBO member who has enhanced the status of women entrepreneurs
through her vision, perseverance and fearless, relentless leadership in business and the community.

Award
Qualifications. Nominations are accepted from businesswomen
who meet the following criteria:
Nellie Cashman Award:
- Nominee must
be a current woman business owner with headquarters in the
Puget Sound Area (King, Snohomish, Pierce & Kitsap Counties).
- Nominee must
be primarily responsible for the financial performance of her
business.
- The business must gross over $1,000,000 and have at least 3 employees.
- The business
must have been in operation for at least 5 years.
- Nominee
must have greater than 50% equity ownership in her business,
unless the company is publicly held. If the company is publicly
held,
the nominee must be the original founder or purchaser and be
actively involved in the company’s day-to-day management.
WBO Excellence Award:
- Nominee must
be a current At-Large, Established Business Owner or Sustaining Member of WBO for at least the past three (3) consecutive years.
- Nominee must
be a current woman business owner or entrepreneurial corporate provider, with primary place of business located in the Puget Sound Area (King, Snohomish, Pierce & Kitsap Counties).
- Nominee must
be primarily responsible for the financial performance of her
business and must have been in business for at least 5 years.
- The business must gross less than $1,000,000 and have fewer than 3 employees.
- Business Owner Applicant must be primarily responsible for the financial performance of her business and must have been in business for at least 5 years.
- Entrepreneurial Corporate provider applicants must be compensated 100% through commission or fees (non-salaried; non-hourly position), must have the financial risk of building her own business, and must have been in her current position for at least 5 years.
Judging criteria:
- Entrepreneurial
Spirit: 35%
- Ethics and
Community Spirit: 25%
- Financial/Management
Skill: 20%
- Risk and
Difficulty of Business: 20%
